Everything you need to know about Nintendo Labo

Everyone is excited and confused about Nintendo‘s newest Switch add-on: cardboard. Nintendo Labo‘s initial set will have a starting cost of $70. They are DIY (Do it Yourself) box builds Toy-cons. There will be two starter sets released. One is an Variety Kit that can changed into different Toy-cons. It can transform into 5 different types.

  • A remote-controlled car. The vibrations from the Joy-Con serve to provide momentum and steering to the car. The game software allows the player to control the car like a normal remote-controlled vehicle.
  • A fishing rod where the Joy-Con sit in the reel and the handle of the rod. The game receives motion input from the Joy-Con to simulate a fishing game.
  • A toy piano with a full octave of keys; the console sits atop this to serve as a music stand.
  • A motorbike with Joy-Con inserted into the handlebars on either side of the tablet for steering.
  • A house containing a slot to insert different components that can interact with the game software on the Console’s display.

The second is the Robot Kit. Its a mecha suit that includes a visor which holds the Switch and a backpack that holds the Joy-Con. The game allows a player to rampage through a virtual world presented on the console’s screen. Both boxes will come with a game for the Switch to create a AR game. The tablet and controllers are key to creating a stimulation of movement. Nintendo said the product was “specifically crafted for kids and those who are kids at heart.”

PUBG Chinese Cheating players mass banning

The Chinese game market is the biggest video game market. It contains the largest gaming audience for competitive gaming such as PUBG (Player Unknown Battleground). Tencent and Bluehole Inc. are the video game distributor for PUBG in China so they control the game servers. With such a larger gaming audience, there is also a huge group of hackers. Rather than simply banning their players, Tencent also sends the Chinese police. Law enforcement has found at least 30 cases and 120 people suspected of developing cheating software. The software ranges from X-ray vision and auto-targeting. Even people who have past convictions will go to jail.

Hackers are even offering their cheating services on PUBG’s top leaderboards. The top 10 players are all hackers with names such as “contact QQ574352672,” a private account where people can purchase the cheating software. Kim Hak-joon, who analyzes gaming stocks for South Korea’s Kiwoom Securities Co. (PUBG is a Korean game) stated: “Cheaters mostly drive away new users, and without retaining new users, PUBG won’t be able to consolidate its early success and become a long-lasting hit.”

Bluehole’s anti-cheats partner, Battleye, has banned 1.6 million accounts which are about 6% of the total community. People convicted of disrupting computer networks face five years’ imprisonment or more under Chinese law. In 2010, a couple was fined 3 million yuan (465,000) and sentenced to nine years for selling cheat software, according to local media reports. China and Tencent are also very familiar with the number of hackers and cheat creators. Tencent has even filed a lawsuit against piracy after they signed exclusive distribution rights with global record labels. It’s a tough fight that even Allen Zhang, head of anti-cheating, stated “It’s a never-ending battle…You could come up with something effective today, but encounter something completely different the next day.”

The Chinese market will probably never remove the number of hackers in China. With the criminalization of cheating, distributors will always exist. They may even produce them in different countries to offer their services like boosting in League of Legends.

TLDW: Nintendo Direct January 11, 2018! The World Ends with You, Mario Odyssey DLC, and more!

Those sneaky guys at Nintendo released a very early morning stream of their Nintendo Direct of what games were coming out this year. Here what was shown off.

The World Ends with You: Final Remix: Release: 2018

The cult classic Nintendo DS game, The World Ends with You, is back! Remastered for the Nintendo Switch, you play as Neku and his group of friends trapped in alternate dimension in Shibuya. Your goal is to complete the task assigned by Reapers or die! The game was famous for its unique soundtrack, art, character design, and gameplay. The gameplay revolved around designer pins which gave Neku different attacks and comboining with your partners against evil monsters. The game will also include a new scenario involving a new character that was never shown in the Nintendo DS or mobile version. This was my favorite game of the entire Nintendo DS generation and its great to see the game come back on the Switch after the director/creator retired earlier this year.
