Hello, my name is Benjamin Le. I am an avid gamer whose passion resides in Marketing for the Video Game Industry. This site is for people to read about gaming news and how the industry works. Please feel free to reach out to me at lebenjaminj@gmail.com for any questions.
Welcome to Game Giants! You can also listen to us on Spotify and Itunes! We talked about the Game Awards winner. The Last of Us part 2 won so much but we discussed it as well. We also talked about music and video games I am playing. I’ve finished the PlayStation 5 originals so is it worth buying from all of the scalpers?
But Ben you didn’t ask “why should an indie title deserve Game of the Year over these big name titles?” You silly fool, Hades is amazing despite being developed by a smaller studio. Here’s why.
An Accessible Rogue-like
Hades does Rogue-like games different than the other popular titles such as Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, or The Binding of Isaac. In Hades, you can collect Dark Crystals which can be spend on powering up your character: Zagreus. While good luck and skill are necessary to escape Hell, little opportunities help alleviate the pain. While I enjoy bashing my head at escape attempts, the opportunity to make it easier is nice. Despite the mirror, you can also increase the difficulty was well.
A Deep Story with Engaging Characters
Despite a smaller budget, Supergiant games created a great cast of characters and personalities. You play as Zagreus, son of Hades, and he is full of sass and personality. Despite dying constantly in front of his father and friends, he takes it in stride and continues to press forward. The Olympic Gods, his uncle and aunts, provide him power-ups and words of encouragement. Despite short dialogue with your godly family, they each have personalities suiting your familiarity of the Gods as well as adding more to them. Zeus is proud and boisterous, Poseidon is a fun uncle, Athena is wise and calm, Ares loves murder and more! There are so many characters in the game and their personalities shine. As you progress through the game, the characters will note on your accomplishments, drive, and skill which helps you feel as though you’re progressing.
It’s really fun
Last and not least, it’s a fun game. The combat feels fast, dungeons are quick but challenging, there are less cheap deaths, it just feels amazing to play. I literally had an addiction to the game at some points. I had to uninstall the game because I couldn’t stop playing. That’s how much I enjoyed it. There are a variety of different build paths, starting weapons, god power combinations, and sassy dialogue to make the game more amazing.

Conclusion
This game makes me so happy. It’s fun to play and the characters are fantastic. I hope this game gets GOTY!
This podcast, Jairus and I talk about The Game Awards. Voting for the Game Awards ends on December 10th! Vote for Hades. Please notice us Supergiants Games. I also review the PlayStation 5. You can check out my article below
It’s been a week since I received my PlayStation 5. I’ve played three titles: Bugsnax, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon Souls and I got to say…the PlayStation 5 is pretty solid.
Pros
PlayStation Store is a lot faster on the console. It is incredibly easy to access the store and barely takes any time to load in comparison to a PS4. The search option is a lot better and I actually wouldn’t mind using the store on my console; especially since the new webpage isn’t that great.
Strong but a quiet beast. The PS5 is relatively quiet even when I’m playing games. The fan hum is quite low however it was quite loud when I was downloading games on my console.
Controller feedback is amazing. Feeling the run in Bugsnax felt nice and didn’t feel too shaky while I was swinging as Spider-Man. The back trigger buttons also feel nice although it can tend to flick back at times. The best part is the noise from the controller. Catching Bugsnax or hearing the visceral strikes in Demon Souls really make the games sound out more.
Load times are also small. I’m not a huge parts but the PS5 takes barely anytime to load a game in comparison to the PS4. You can change games pretty quickly which is nice.
Cons
The buttons aren’t as responsive. Maybe it’s just when playing Spider-Man but sometimes the L1+R1 don’t always work together. The 4 face buttons don’t feel as good to press. In comparison to the PS4 face buttons, the PS5 controller isn’t as nice.
The PS5 is also lacking in USB ports. There is only one in the front and two USB ports in the back. Meaning if you want to charge your controllers or have an external memory drive, you might need to figure which device takes which spot for your console.
Conclusion
Most likely people reading this haven’t been able to get a PS5. Good luck on your search! My console is the disc version.
