Pokemon Anniversary News

Happy birthday to Pokemon! Pokemon Yellow was the first video game I ever played and still have the cartridge. To celebrate, many current Pokemon games have special events.

Pokemon Sword and Shield (until March 1st)

In the Wild Area, you can now encounter the Kanto Starters, their middle evolution, and Mewtwo (non-catchable). Fighting the starters will give you many EV-reducing berries, a Toxic/Flame/Life Orb, and fighting Mewtwo will give you PP Max, Bottle Caps, and potentially Ability Changer. Mewtwo is level 100 so it is incredibly difficult. The Kanto starters can be Shiny and can have their Hidden Abilities.

Pokemon Go (until March 2nd)

For Pokemon’s anniversary, you can catch Pikachu, Eevee, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle with party hats! The Kanto original starters can only be caught in raids. To commerate with the CGI remake of Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back, you can catch Venasaur, Charizard, and Blastoise clone version from the movies in level 4 raids. The evolutions will have their community day moves which makes them useful for Ultra League and raids! For level 5 raids, you can catch Armour Mewtwo with Psystrike!

What Are the Features?

Besides being able to transfer your Pokemon, Pokemon Home will have the National Pokedex which is not featured in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Thus, it is the only way to bring all your older Pokemon onto the Switch but not Sword and Shield at the moment of this article. Wonder Room allows you to wonder/surprise trade up to 20 people. How Much Does it Cost?

The premium plan is 370 Yen/$2.99 a month or 610 Yen/$4.99 for 3 months or 1960 Yen/$15.99 for 12 months. To go along with the release of Pokemon Home, Pokemon Bank and Pokemon Transporter are free to use for the month of February. Pokemon Bank is a 3DS download that allows players to transfer their Pokemon to a box that allows transfer to any generation as long as the Pokemon exists in the game. Pokemon Transporter allows the release original Game Boy Pokemon Games to be transferred to the Pokemon Bank.

Is Pokemon Home Worth It?

The value is entirely up to you. Do you have some old friends that you would love to bring to the newest game once they are released? Did you have amazing Pokemon with perfect stats that you want to remake your team on? Do you have a shiny that you love? If so, there are ways to transfer them over for free. You have to pay for Pokemon Box currently but if you have been waiting for a free opportunity, February looks to be the ideal time. It does not have a release date but Game Freak stats February 2020.

Pokemon Sword and Shield WILL NOT feature 18 Gyms

Game Informer previously reported that Pokemon Sword and Shield would feature 18 Pokemon gyms to challenge on October 1st: 9 Major and 9 minor gyms. Fans were extremely excited as it would defeat Pokemon Gold and Silver in overall amount of gyms to challenge (it featured 16).

Unfortunately, it seems Game Informer mistranslated communications with Game Freak. What Game Freak meant was that there are 18 across the league in Pokemon Sword and Shield. There are just 8 gyms as usual but each have version exclusive gyms.

This comes as a huge disappointment from fans but hopefully the other features in the game will remove their fears.

Pokemon Sword and Shield releases worldwide November 15th, 2019.

Time for Your Pokemon to Get a Job

It’s finally happening. Your Pokemon are moving out of your Pokeballs and going to start working in the real world. In the latest Pokemon Sword and Shield news, a new feature called Poke Jobs will appear.

In the Galar region, it is common for Pokemon and Humans to work side-by-side. Corporations and even universities will request Pokemon for help. There are a variety of different jobs with different request.

But what do your Pokemon earn as a reward? Definitely not Pokedollars as you earn those from beating up others. Instead your Pokemon will earn experience points, base stats improvements (Atk, Def, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, HP, or Speed) and get some rare items. It depends how long they are at work. Overtime is not an issue in the Pokemon job space.

Certain Pokemon are more suited for specific work. The more Pokemon you send out for a certain job, the better rewards they can earn.

You can access PokeJobs from the Rotomi. The Rotomi has replaced the PC at Pokemon Centers. It can be used for PC boxes and the lottery.

Now that your Pokemon can get a job, what about you?
