Microsoft announces Game Streaming Service: Project xCloud

Have you ever wanted to play your video games on any device? The idea of being able to play console games from any device has been an idealistic dream. Many gaming and tech companies have been trying to develop a cloud service that can provide gaming experiences to phones, computers, and gaming consoles. Microsoft announced their new game streaming service: Project xCloud.

The worry about game streaming is the quality, graphics degrading, and latency in the games will worsen. Microsoft is developing Azure to be their cloud solution. Azure supports 54 regions in 140 countries. They are developing hardware to support the cloud servers to ensure it doesn’t crash. You’ll be able to play Xbox games on your phones or tablets using an Xbox controller or using the in-tablet controls.

Don’t worry about Microsoft discounting the Xbox. They are still focused on releasing the video game console and believe its the ideal gaming experience. Their mindset is to provide Xbox games to everybody; even people who don’t own an Xbox. In the video, you’ll be able to see them demo the game.

Depending on the success, Microsoft could greatly change the industry. The launch of xCloud remains to be determined.

 

Skybound Game will finish Telltale’s The Walking Dead

Telltale has found a company to finish Clem’s story for The Walking Dead: The Final Season. 

Announced during New York Comic-Con by Robert Kirkman (Creator of the Walking Dead), Skybound Games will finish the game. Skybound Entertainment, the parent company, publishes The Walking Dead comic book series and many more. A part of the good news is that Skybound will work with the original Telltale team for the project. While final details are still unclear on when the full game will release or who is working on the project, fans can rejoice as The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be finished. Skybound Games have worked on mobile games and tabletop games for The Walking Dead series. They have also published video games such as The Long Dark and Slime Rancher.

Telltale releases its Remaining Employees

Last week, Telltale released a majority of their staff with no severance pay. They kept a skeleton group of employees to finish the last projects they owed to the shareholders. Apparently, that didn’t last long as Telltale just released the last remaining staff members.

The last project Telltale had was The Minecraft Story for Netflix. What remains of that project remains to be seen. Telltale has faced heavy scrutiny by the public for their mass layoffs without providing warning or severance packages for the employees. According to Kotaku, Telltale will finish The Walking Dead: The Final Season with another developer which is a slap to the face of the employees who worked so hard on the game. The future of The Walking Dead: The Final Season looks bleak but the Telltale hasn’t responded on the employee layoffs. Guess they chose the no answer option.

New Nintendo Switch scheduled for 2019

According to Wall Street Journal Japan, Nintendo is expected to launch an upgraded Nintendo Switch Console in 2019. Although the details are unclear on specs, the WSJ Japan expects a bigger, brighter screen. The Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. Nintendo was relying on the sales of additional peripherals such as the Labo. However, slower sales this year may have pushed Nintendo to release the “Switch 2” earlier than expected. Are you going to get the second Nintendo Switch?
