Nintendo sues Couple for $12 Million for Rom Site

Nintendo has a long history with ROMs (Read only Memory) which allowed people to play Nintendo games on Emulators or Nintendo handhelds without paying. There are dedicated websites such as GBAtemp or LoveROMS which provide people a hub to download ROMS. As of 2018, Nintendo has been cracking hard on websites and forcing them to shut down. Today, Nintendo won a lawsuit against Jacob Mathias and Cristian Mathias, and their Arizona-based company, Mathias Designs L.L.C for $12 million.

Whether the Mathias’ will have to pay for the full amount remains to be seen. The huge fine may be more a warning against the other ROM sites. If you check out loveroms.com, you’ll see a final message from Jacob and Cristian.

Our website, LoveROMS.com/LoveRetro.co, previously offered and performed unauthorized copies of Nintendo games, in violation of Nintendo’s copyrights and trademarks. LoveROMS.com/LoveRetro.co acknowledges that it caused harm to Nintendo, its partners, and customers by offering infringing copies of Nintendo games and has agreed to cease all such activities. To access legitimate Nintendo games online, please visit http://www.nintendo.com for information about the Nintendo Game Store.

This looks like the end of ROM dedicated website by Nintendo. While many users are angry with Nintendo’s approach, it is still a business. Whether you bought the game or didn’t, Nintendo doesn’t want people distributing ROMS to the public.

The Game’s roster is complete! I can’t wait for December!

  • Ken is an Echo Fighter for Ryu. A speedier version with his signature Flaming Shoryuken and two different Final Smash! His moves are different and involve more kicks.

    Heavy Shoryuken only
  • Incineroar, the final evolution of Litten, smashes into the ring. He is the best starter Pokemon introduced in a long time (Sorry Greninja..) He has a bunch of wrestling throw moves and looks to be slow like Ganon. Cool poses for every move that lands but they are cancelable.

Pokemon Go finally has Idle Step Tracking. Adventure Sync

You know what sucks about step counters? Your phone not reading your steps while it’s idle or the application is not opened. It was especially bad with Pokemon Go. Players had to leave the Pokemon Go app open on their phone and walk to count their steps. This was draining on your phone but it was the only way for the app to count your steps to hatch Pokemon Eggs or Candies. The initial solution was for players to purchase a Pokemon Go Tracker. Now Niantic is finally adding Adventure Sync.

The application syncs in the background with iOS HealthKit and Android Google Fit. This allows players to leave the Pokemon Go app idle or even closed on your phone and helps you save battery life. It will also provide weekly rewards to players who walk or run certain kilometers. The launch will be global but the official release date is unconfirmed.

The game has been a huge success for Nintendo and Niantic. Despite its first year having technical issues, the company has been working hard to cater to fans demands. They have gradually rolled out more features and Nintendo is slowly beginning to have a grip on the mobile market. Fire Emblem Heroes, Mario Run, and Animal Crossing have scratch casual fans’ itches for a Nintendo game. Early this year, Analyst Sensor Tower reported a $1.8 billion in revenue for Pokemon Go and $400 million for Fire Emblem Heroes.
