Square-Enix E3 Conference Review/Highlight

Square-Enix didn’t show anything that wasn’t already well -known. Except for Babylon Falls which is a new Platinum X SE game and The Quiet Man. 7/10

Shadow of the Tomb Raider (September 14, 2018)

  • An emphasis on stealth-based combat
  • Apparently, Lara Croft isn’t the tomb raider yet but she seems ruthless. Especially the stinger shot as Sephiroth evil.png

Final Fantasy XIV:

  • New patch and expansion
  • Monster Hunter Events! Monsters, the cat mascot, and even emotes are included

Babylon’s Falls:

  • New IP from Square and Platinum after Nier Automata
  • No date announced but it looks SICK!
  • Image result for babylon falls square enix
    Look at this video game!

The Awesome Adventure of Captain Spirit (June 26, 2018):

  • A new title in the Life is Strange series
  • Free for all consoles!Image result for awesome adventures of captain spirit

Dragon Quest XI:

  • No gameplay was shown but it looks like a classic JRPG and story. If you want a classic RPG, DQ has always been an exceptional game.

The Quiet Man:

  • Actually confusing. It didn’t reveal anything but it looks like a new IP based on noise and combat

Nier Automata, Octopath Traveler, and Kingdom Hearts 3 were all the same trailers that were shown before. No FF 7 because Square-Enix didn’t want to shoot themselves in the foot but showing anything and not having a release date. Perhaps they learned that promising a game with no official release date is ridiculous and annoys their fanbase. Examples: Final Fantasy Versus 13 15, Kingdom Hearts 3.

The End of Evolve

I remember watching a Let’s Play of Evolve in 2014 before the game was officially launched. The tension of chasing a huge monster before it becomes too strong was exciting and playing the monster was exciting. The game received great praise in 2014 and won several rewards prior to Evolve‘s launch. Published by 2K Interactive, Evolve was a multiplayer focused 3rd person shooter where four players play as Hunters while one played as a monster that sought resources to “evolve.” It was the first game from Turtle Rock Studios who spun off from Valve in 2011 who worked on Left for DeadHowever, the myriad of downloadable content, lack of story and interesting game types led to mixed reviews and loss of player base.

What happened?

Evolve launched on February 10th, 2015 for $60. Despite being a commercial success, the mixed reviews were apparent from Day One. Many players criticized the sole focus on multiplayer that quickly became dull. The Hunter gameplay was praised with the different class types but playing as the monster was limited. The biggest issue was the massive amounts of Day One downloadable content.  On Day One, to acquire all the DLC, it cost $136. Different monsters and hunters were all locked behind a paywall and player fatigue was fast. in July 2016, 2K made the game free-to-play due to lack of player base but the damage was done. 2K and Turtle Rock ended continuous support for the game four months later.

End of Evolve

Today, 2K announced that Evolve’s dedicated servers will be shut down on September 3, 2018. Several game features will be removed:

  • Hunt (Ranked)
    • Players will still be able to play Hunt by going into Quick play and Custom games
  • Player Profile data
  • Leaderboards will no longer be populated with player data
  • The in-game store will be removed
  • The newsfeed will be unavailable
  • Player Badges will be unavailable

Peer-to-peer multiplayer will be the only method to play multiplayer meaning your speed is based on other players’ computers. The features below will remain.

    • Quick Play
      • Hunt
      • Nest
      • Rescue
      • Defend
      • Arena
    • Evacuation
    • Custom games
  • Single Player (solo vs. AI) –
    • Evacuation
    • Quick Play
    • Custom games
  • My2K login access
  • Access to all hunters, monsters, purchased DLC, skins & player badges

Strangely, 2K encourages players to use all their keys or purchase whatever content they would like before the servers close as they will no longer be sold. In my opinion, the rest of the content should be released for free.

Next Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey leaked via keychain *Updated – Ubisoft confirms leak

The Internet will always catch you with your pants down. Whether it’s finding Drake’s baby mama or finding a person’s racist comments or acts in the past, the internet will make sure people discover it. The same can be said for the new Assassin’s Creed game. Jeuxvideo, a France gaming website, showed a merch left behind showing the title: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The new AC game looks to be set in Greece based on the Spartan logo.

Last year, a t-shirt depicting an assassin in Egpty was discovered by a NeoGaf user before Assassin’s Creed Origin was announced. Ubisoft hasn’t commented on the item but most 2018 game leaks seem to be true such as the new Pokemon game. Hopefully, this is not a new title for the main series as previously, Ubisoft stated they would only return to annual releases if they felt the series was on the “right track”. Origins was released last year and received raved reviews and it showed Ubisoft took the time to fully develop the game rather than churning them out.
